Montefalco Rosso Riserva Antonelli
Montefalco Rosso Riserva – Controlled Designation of Origin
Montefalco Rosso Riserva is the special version of our Montefalco Rosso, produced only in the finest vintages and undergoing extended aging in large oak casks.
Variety: It is a blend primarily based on Sangiovese, which represented 70% until the 2015 vintage and increased to 80% starting from the 2016 vintage.
Harvest: The harvest begins with the Sangiovese grapes at the end of September and concludes with the typical Montefalco grapes in October. The grapes are carefully handpicked during the harvest.
The grapes are gently transferred to the fermentation tanks by gravity. Fermentation takes place on the skins with a maceration period of approximately 3-4 weeks.
After the blending process, the wine matures for a minimum of 18 months in predominantly large oak casks and subsequently rests in concrete tanks. It further ages in the bottle for at least 6 months.
Montefalco Rosso Riserva displays a deep ruby red color. It offers a highly intense and complex olfactory impact with fruity, floral, and spicy notes. On the palate, it is structured and elegant, boasting remarkable gustatory and olfactory persistence.
It pairs perfectly with flavorful pasta dishes, grilled meats, roasts, and aged hard cheeses.
Optimal Consumption Period:
This wine reaches its full maturity after 4-5 years from the harvest and has the potential to age in the bottle for over 15 years.
