The Terroir of Enchantment
The roots of Grechetto vines, carefully selected with love and care, intertwine with a unique terrain, rich in calcareous skeleton from the grandeur of Monte Subasio. It is here, under the warm embrace of the Umbrian sun, that the Villa Fidelia Passito comes to life, capturing the essence of an extraordinary place.
A Story of Passion and Tradition
The vines, nurtured with the spur-pruned method, bear witness to respect for ancient traditions and dedication to perfection. With a density of 5,000 vines per hectare and an average age of 20 years, each cluster encapsulates the history of a family devoted to the production of fine wines.
The Magic of Harvest
Towards the end of August and the beginning of September, the magical moment of harvest arrives. The Grechetto grapes, in a state of perfect ripeness, are carefully selected with love, ready to give life to the precious Villa Fidelia Passito.
The Creation Process
The grapes, harvested with care and passion, are arranged in small crates and placed in a thermo-hygrometric-conditioned environment, where the drying process begins. The must, in contact with the skins for about 6 hours at controlled temperature, reveals all its complexity and depth.
Elevation in Barrique
After alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel, the wine rests for six months in second-passage barriques, acquiring unique nuances and harmonies. It is here that the magic is born: a Passito with enveloping notes and distinctive character.
A Journey of the Senses
Villa Fidelia Passito Sportoletti is a unique experience to be savored with all the senses. Perfect paired with blue cheeses, dry pastries, walnut and hazelnut cakes, and foie gras, each sip reveals the love and passion that permeate every drop of this extraordinary wine.
Discover the enchantment of Villa Fidelia Passito Sportoletti and let yourself be transported on an emotional journey through the breathtaking landscapes and enveloping flavors of Umbria. With each sip, savor the history, tradition, and authenticity of a family devoted to creating exceptional wines.

In the late 1970s, brothers Ernesto and Remo, inspired by their father Vittorio’s teachings, decided to focus exclusively on viticulture. In 1979, they produced their first thousand bottles under their own label. Since then, they have embarked on a journey to find the perfect balance between innovation and tradition, striving to maximize the potential of their land—the rolling hills of Spello and Assisi—where the estate’s 25 hectares (about 62 acres) of vineyards are located.
The Wines
The winery currently produces five wines: Assisi Rosso DOP, Assisi Grechetto DOP, Villa Fidelia Bianco IGP, Villa Fidelia Rosso IGP, and Villa Fidelia Passito IGP. Over the past decade, annual production has stabilized at approximately 200,000 bottles. Since 1998, the company has benefited from the prestigious expertise of enologist and agronomist Riccardo Cotarella.
At about 500 meters (1,640 feet) above sea level, near the edge of the Monte Subasio Park, the estate also has 2,000 Moraiolo olive trees, used to produce an exceptional Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
The Vineyards
The winery’s 25 hectares of vineyards are located in the hills of Spello and Assisi, all within the Assisi DOC designation. A gradual renewal of the vineyards has led to a more rational, quality-focused approach, with high-density planting and the “cordone speronato” (spur-pruned cordon) training system, which helps regulate bud load and plant productivity.
For their premium wines, a green harvest is conducted at the start of veraison, ensuring an average yield of about 1 kg of grapes per vine.
Among the cultivated varieties is the native Grechetto, where the G5 clone, less productive but richer in character and typicity, was chosen. Chardonnay, used in the Villa Fidelia Bianco, grows at an altitude of 500 meters on the slopes of Monte Subasio.
For red grapes, special attention is given to Merlot. During vineyard renewal, a clone from a 50-year-old Sportoletti-owned vineyard was selected and propagated, proving to be one of the estate’s key strengths. Similarly, less productive but polyphenol-rich clones of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc were selected for planting.
