Cultivated using the Spur-pruned Cordon training system and grown on mainly sandy-clay soil, Bolgheri Rosso Peàn Batzella expresses the quintessence of Tuscany, reflecting the artisanal care of Batzella.
Production Process:
Fermentation occurs 100% in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures for 12-18 days, followed by complete malolactic fermentation in barriques. Aging continues for at least 12 months in French oak barriques and tonneaux, sourced from both Bordeaux and Burgundy. Subsequently, the wine rests in the bottle for at least an additional 12 months, completing its maturation journey.

Batzella Vini
The company Batzella vini is located on the central Tuscan coast founded in 2000 by Khanh Nguyen and Franco Batzella. The Bolgheri area is enchanting, surrounded as it is by rolling hills and the Tyrrhenian Sea. Its land and its micro climate allow the Cabernet varieties, now autochthonous to Bolgheri, to reach full maturity and to produce wines that can be distinctly original.

For us, wine is made first of all in the vineyard with the best grapes possible. Cabernets in Bolgheri are capable of giving great wines with a character deeply linked to the soil and climate of the territory from which they come, wines that are by no means standardized and globalized, but which offer that original elegance with the unrepeatable Mediterranean expression that identifies them from its Atlantic cousins in Bordeaux.
In 1999 Khanh Nguyen and Franco Batzella, wife and husband, after almost 30 years of careers in international finance, decided to return to Italy to undertake a new life challenge, founding their wine Estate in Tuscany, in the enchanting territory of Bolgheri.
Under the guidance of Professor Attilio Scienza, 7.5 hectares of vineyards were planted mainly with Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, with the aim of making wines that fully express the typicality of their territory and their tradition. In 2020, another 1.5 hectare was planted with Cabernet Franc.
The vineyards, 6900 vines/ ha cordon spurred, is divided into 3 parcels: Campo Mare, Campo Pozzo and Campo Lungo on mainly clayey-sandy soils.
In addition to Cabernet Sauvignon and Franc, there are also some rows of Syrah, Viogner and Vermentino. The harvest, entirely manual, generally takes place between the end of August for the white grapes and the month of September for the red ones.
In 2021 the couple decided to retire and the company was purchased by San Felice which already owns other prestigious and historic properties in Chianti Classico and Montalcino.
As regards the agronomic and oenological part, it was decided to continue the long-term collaboration with Attilio Pagli, while the management of the company was entrusted to Fabrizio Nencioni, former Commercial Director of San Felice for 16 years.
The goal remains to continue in the footsteps traced by the Batzellas both in the production philosophy and in the company dimension, but trying to further enhance the wines and the brand through a series of planned investments in the vineyard and cellar and at the same time bringing new commercial impetus. and communication
