Vinification and Aging
The production process of this extraordinary Barolo includes:
Soft Grape Crushing
Fermentation with Indigenous Yeasts: Approximately 15 days at a controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks, with periodic pump-overs for optimal color and tannin extraction.
Submerged Cap Maceration: A medium-long maceration to enhance the aromatic profile.
Malo-Lactic Fermentation: Followed by transfer to oak barrels for aging for 20-24 months.
Aging in Concrete Tanks: After transfer, the wine rests in concrete tanks for additional months before bottling.
Organoleptic Characteristics
Color: Ruby red with brick-red reflections
Aroma: Fresh, with hints of dried fruit and vanilla
Taste: Smooth with sweet, elegant, and persistent tannins
Serving Temperature: 16 – 17 degrees Celsius

Ours is a small wine cellar, Bovio Gianfranco, located at the heart of the Barolo growing area. It is run by the third generation of wine producers in the Bovio family, who were originally from the Annunziata hamlet.

Gianfranco Bovio began to look after his father Alessandro’s holdings in the 1970s, renovating the old cellars and dedicating himself with passion to the making of wines grown on the estate vineyards that stretch out over 8.5 hectares.
Now it is the turn of Alessandra and her husband Marco Boschiazzo to continue the family tradition, with the co-operation of winemaker Matteo Franchi, and Robert Tofan front of house.
The company philosophy is strongly embedded in tradition and terroir, from the scrupulous tending of the vineyards, through to the ageing of the wines in large oak casks.
Our production includes four Barolo crus Rocchettevino, Arborina Gattera and Parussi and a classic-style Barolo made from grapes grown on vineyards in La Morra, Barolo and Castiglione Falletto, plus Nebbiolo Firagnetti, Barbera d’Alba Ciotto and Regiaveja, Dolcetto d’Alba Dabbene and the white Langhe Chardonnay Alessandro.
