Arquata Umbria Red – Adanti
Arquata Red Umbria Adanti is a red wine of international character, with a blend of grapes composed of 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot and 20% Barbera. The grapes come from three vineyard parcels located in the municipality of Bevagna (Pg), in the Arquata area, at an altitude of 230 meters above sea level, on clay-limestone soil. Description:
Arquata Red Umbria Adanti IGT, affectionately called “crazy wine” by Alvaro Palini, the winery’s historic cellarman, is made from old Merlot, Cabernet and Barbera vines.
The wine has an intense, almost impenetrable ruby red color and offers remarkable complexity and structure.
Notes of jammy berries, cocoa, spices, ink and a long balsamic trail emerge in its bouquet. It is a full and structured wine, with dense tannins but well-balanced vivacity thanks to the presence of Barbera in the blend.
Persistence is very high and the wine reaches its maximum expression with aging. It is aged for 30 months in oak barrels and then at least one year in the bottle.
It pairs perfectly with grilled meats, semi-hard cheeses and game.
Harvest:
Harvesting for Arquata Red Umbria Adanti is done manually from the beginning to the end of October, depending on the different ripening times of the grape varieties.
Vinification:
The winemaking process involves de-stemming and crushing the grapes, after which they are fermented and macerated in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 28°C for about 20 days, performing daily pumping over and delestage. Post-fermentation maceration lasts between 3 and 4 days. Subsequently, the wine is aged in barriques and tonneaux for 24 months, followed by further bottle aging for 24 months.
